Podcamp Halifax 2010 – January 24th

I can’t say much more except that yes, for sure, we are going to do Podcamp Halifax in 2010.   Once we confirm the location, we will be updating the wiki where people will be invited to offer their presentation on whatever topic interests them.    Then, we’ll open up the Eventbrite site like we did last year.   Also, if you have Google Wave, you can find a Wave that discusses possible presentation topics.  Just do a search for ‘with:public podcamp’ and you’ll find us!   The twitter tag is podcamphfx, just like last year.

Last year we sold out all 200 available tickets and put 50 more in a waiting list.   That means you probably want to book yourself in early!   The event will still be free, and yes, we will be looking for sponsors.

 

Take a little Podcamp home with you

We’re in the home stretch, folks! We’re a mere two sleeps away from Atlantic Canada’s first Podcamp event at Alderney Gate. Hopefully you’re already registered and hyped up for what’s sure to be an incredible day. But why let the fun stop there?

Make sure you bring $10 with you so you can bring home this classy t-shirt commemorating the inaugural Podcamp Halifax. It’s good for the office, social occasions, weddings, dates and job interviews. Trust us.

Podcamp Halifax Sold Out!

So much for thinking we would have about 100 people!   On Thursday, January 15th, we sold out the last of 200 tickets to Podcamp Halifax!    We are absolutely overwhelmed by the response for this event and cannot wait to meet everyone.

We do have a waiting list available.   You can get on the waiting list by contacting either Craig or Ryan via Twitter  or sending an email to podcamphalifax [at] gmail.    We are going to do our best to make sure that everyone who really wants in gets to come.

Podcamp, accommodations AND a cruise??

It’s true! Here in Halifax we know how to treat visitors right. That’s why we’re doing all we can to make your visit for Podcamp Halifax as comfy-cozy as an East Coast January can be.

Two generous volunteers have already started up our Adopt-a-Podcamper program to match visitors with free lodgings courtesy of local social media enthusiasts. Hey, if you can hit them up on Twitter then you can certainly crash on their couch, right? If you’re looking for a place to rest your head after a long day of innovation, you can submit your name here and we’ll do all we can to help you out.

HALIFAX, NS – When online video entrepreneur Craig Moore volunteered to help organize something called a ‘Podcamp’ in Halifax, he never could have anticipated the excitement that would be sparked. 

“When we started, we thought we would gather 30 or 40 of our friends together to chat about podcasting and blogs,” said Moore. “When we finally announced that we were doing it, we immediately had replies from people who had booked their flight that day from Toronto.”

Social media is amazing.   We haven’t even touched traditional promotion and two months ahead of the game we have 40 people registered and thirteen presentations offered.   Many of those who have offered presentations haven’t registered yet.   Go figure.  🙂  We have people confirmed to be coming from as far as Toronto, St. John’s and Moncton.

Ryan and Craig were invited to the last 3rd Wednesday meet-up to explain how a podcamp works and to encourage people to sign up to present.    We think we did a good job because our presentation wiki is filling up so fast that we are already thinking we need to add a few more rooms!

Yes, it’s true.   We have opened up both a registration site, a presentation matrix on the Podcamp 2009 Wiki (invite key is “alderney”) and added a page to the site on how to sign up.
